MonicaHey, it’s Moni again! Today, I will be telling you guys the basics of writing a good story for all the amazing and talented *and soon-to-be* authors out there! I can’t tell you everything in only 1 article, so there will be 5 parts! I hope you enjoy and of course, learn something from this!
So! For starters, you need a plot. A story. Like, what’s going to happen? How? Will they solve their problem, and how? What will happen in the end? Will there be any twists? Those are the main questions you should *and could* ask. Then, there are more! What’s the main character’s gender? What do they look like? What is their background (family, age, nationality)? What’s their personality? Are they a villain or superhero or an average human being? Then there are even MORE questions, but let’s just go with these!
So, what’s going to happen? Well, you may want to watch TV (TV show or movie) or read a book for inspiration, because this is probably the hardest part. I always like to read a good book, or take subjects from school to help me too! Sometimes my everyday life or past or future life helps me too! Or I just look at my friends’ lives. What’s going on in their mind?
What can also help you is to put yourself in your character’s (or characters’) shoes! Maybe you can base them on yourself! I sometimes do, and that’s OK! It’s your story after all!
Once you figured out what happens in the beginning, middle, and end, it’s easier to make characters, since you already have a vision of almost everything! And don’t worry if you don’t, just tell me and I’ll help you!!
Now that I started writing better stories, I know that it’s not writing the story that’s the difficult part, but actually creating it!
