Hufflepuffs are very under-represented amongst the Hogwarts community. Students even go as far as saying that if you’re in Hufflepuff, ‘you might as well be a Muggle.’ Which is pretty insulting, especially as one of our Izzy’s Buzz authors (pshhh…I’m saying ‘one of our authors’ like we have staff, we’re 2 people!) @monica aka Moni G, who has a penchant for writing stories!
Hufflepuffs are lucky, actually. JK Rowling herself said that Hufflepuff was her favourite house!
Wondering if you are a Hufflepuff, actually one of the best houses? This list will help you.
1. You’re optimistic
Most Hufflepuffs (and beware, I said most) are very optimistic. It actually comes natural to them, it’s in their nature! Their optimism actually shows through their dorm room. I’m afraid I can’t post a picture, because of copyright, but you can read JK Rowling’s original description or look at a picture. Their optimism is great when it comes to stressful situations but they might worry, too.
2. You’re loyal
First, look at Susan’s smile when she got her house! Talk about house pride…which is shown to lack in Hufflepuff…the most!
Hufflepuffs are extremely loyal to people they care about, similar to Gryffindor, an example of a Gryffinpuff (Gryffindor but also Hufflepuff) would be Ron Weasley or Neville Longbottom. They understand people’s feelings and are great friends to talk to. And great friends in general!
3. You don’t stand up for yourself too much
Although Hufflepuffs will gladly be willing to stand up for their friends, standing up for themselves is an other story. They often let themselves get pushed around because of their people-pleasing nature and smiley habits.
Hufflepuffs are kind, but are often too kind, but when necessary…hello dark wizards…that might have been hyperbole…
4. You are supportive
Hufflepuffs are supportive of others, whether it’s a crazy idea that’ll probably never work or entering the Triwizard Tournament, they’ll always have your back. If I’m being honest, I think Hufflepuffs would make the best friends, out of all the houses! They’ll support you and your choices, no matter what. If you’re going through a hard time, or have to make a salien decision, these guys will have your back! Through and through! I’m very glad @monica, my sister, is a Hufflepuff!
5. You are friendly
Hufflepuffs are naturally friendly. They are usually extroverted, gregarious witches and wizards who are willing to be your friend (most of the time.) They care and are generally labeled as ‘kind.’ As a matter of fact, they may be the kindest house of all!
6. You are generous
Hufflepuffs are generous. Whether it’s charity or time, they are willling to give just for the sake of giving. Now, I know this article may seem very very biased, but as a matter of facts, it is almost solely based on facts. Hufflepuffs are described as giving and by observing it’s alumni, you’ll see that it’s true. We recommend observing them more often to get a better idea of their personalities. Of course, these traits don’t always apply to all Hufflepuffs, as its based on what you value.
7. You aren’t very opinionated
Hufflepuffs, like what the subtitle says, aren’t very opinionated. They also give time to be able to well judge something. They are wiser than they are given credit for and are not very critical, they might be soft-spoken so as not to hurt your feelings. They will often be ‘sheep’, the idiom that is a synonym for ‘following the crowd, conforming’ and might be followers.
- Newt Scamander
- Cedric Diggory
- Susan Bones
- Tonks (Nymphadora, but she said ‘Don’t call me Nymphadora!’ ;))
- Helga Hufflepuff
- Mrs.Sprout (the woman who didn’t care about Neville fainting)
Are you a Hufflepuff? If not, which house are you in?
